Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course


The Wilderness and Remote First Aid class is a 16 hour course based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guideline.  This course certification is good for 2 years.

CPR/AED:  Friday 3:00-5:00(recertification only)  WFA  5pm – 9pm

WFA:  Saturday October , 7:30am-7:30pm


This course is required for any high adventure activity by the BSA.  It is essential for troops who are involved in activities where you are further than 1 hour away from EMS.  It also meets one of the requirements for the Ranger Award in the Venturing Program.


This course is open to anyone aged 14 and over.

PREREQUISITES - Current certification in adult CPR/AED is required.  A separate recertification CPR/AED class will be held on Friday, October 4th.  CPR/AED certification class cost is $10.00.  If you are currently certified in CPR/AED, you must send a copy of you CPR card prior to attending the WFA class.  If you need certification please contact the course coordinator, Lora Porter.

DETAILS – Lora Porter is the Wilderness First Aid Instructor with ECSI for the past 7 years. Her professional background is a Registered Critical Care Nurse in Cardiology and Emergency medicine for 32 years.

COURSE – The WFA course fee is $95.00, which includes course materials as well as continental breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner on Saturday.  The class has limited size and will be filled on a first come basis.  After receiving your information and payment, you will be pre-registered for the course and fully registered when the class reaches 15 participants.  Your payment will be refunded if the class doesn’t reach 15 participants.   The course is nonrefundable 10 days prior to training.  You may substitute someone else in your place if you can’t attend.   Be prepared to camp in the woods, dress according to the weather. Class will be conducted rain or shine.   This is a very packed 16 hours, you will be required to check off skills you have learned.                       Please make your check to Lora Porter and mail it to:
