Then register for Pistol Instructor and/or RSO Training (cost $150 each).

Pre-Requisites and Course Schedule:

On Friday morning, a gun-safety skills and abilities demonstration will be required of each instructor- candidate followed by a session at the pistol range, where each Instructor Candidate will be required to demonstrate ability in several pre-qualification shooting exercises. A description of the pre-qualification exercises will be emailed to all course registrants. Following successful completion of the range and field exercises, we will adjourn to the classroom setting to conduct the NRA Basic Instructor course. This course is a pre-requisite for all other NRA Instructor-level courses. NRA mandated regulations now state that this course must be taken if this is your first NRA certified instructor rating, or if more than 24 months have passed since you last completed the Basic Instructor course. The NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and NRA Certified Range Safety Officer classes will follow on Saturday and Sunday, 29
& 30 March 2014. Successful completion of these courses will result in your obtaining certification as an NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor and NRA Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO). As an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, you will be able to conduct and supervise pistol shooting outings for BSA Venturing Crews or individual members
in conjunction with an on-site NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. You may also act as an NRA Certified RSO for any Basic Shooting Activity.

Cost: Course cost is $350. This fee includes all course materials, meals, firearms usage, ammunition, and accommodations at Camp Comer, but excludes NRA processing and certification fees which must be paid by cash or check upon course completion. We will be staying in climate controlled Staff cabins with bunk beds and mattresses. Bathrooms and showers are co-located with the Staff cabins. You must bring a sleeping bag / blankets, pillow and toiletries.

If you have previously completed the NRA Basic Instructor course within 24 months of the course start date (28 March 2014), you will not be required to take it again. However, you will still be required to demonstrate the necessary gun safety skills and abilities and complete the pre-qualification shooting exercises before you can be certified. You can do this at the regular time on Friday morning or arrange to do it at another time before or during the weekend. The cost for the course without the Basic Instructor portion is $300.

th The balance of $150 is due at the beginning of class on Friday the 28 . Payment may be made by credit card on the

NAFT website, or by personal check or money order. Please make checks/funds payable to NAFT. Send deposits to NAFT, 13518 Sweet Pea Street, Athens, AL 35613.
