Purpose: OLS-WL provides both current and future Webelos leaders with an understanding of the Webelos Outdoor Program, with current information and basic skills training they can use to plan, organize and conduct an exciting and interesting program for Webelos Scouts that is consistent with the policies and health and safety guidelines of both the National Council and the Greater Alabama Council, and demonstrates that activities in the outdoors are FUN!


Who: The information and skills presented will help both current and future Webelos leaders, as well as other adults interested in assisting, in the conducting of outdoor activities and advancements, put on a fun-filled and informative outdoor program that your Webelos Scouts will find both FUN and challenging.


What: The following is a partial list of the topics that will be covered at OLS-WL:

Food Safety & Sanitation Fire Building Outdoor Cooking

Use of Wood Tools Knots & Ropes Planning Campfires

First Aid for Outdoor Activities Planning Campouts Forester Activity Badge

Geologist Activity Badge Outdoorsman Activity Badge

Naturalist Activity Badge  


When: Saturday, November 6, 2010  ~ 8:00 am – 6:00 pm


Where: Camp Rushton (at Camp Winnataska), Prescott, AL

Cost: $10.00 per person 


Bring: Pen and paper, your uniform, your Webelos leader handbook, a camp chair, and a smile!    Lunch will be provided.

We have put together a high quality training staff, so make sure to register well in advance to insure you have a spot.  


Please pre-register.  We cannot accept “walkups.”


1.  Complete form on reverse and mail, with your check to the address below by October 29.  Make checks payable to “Greater Alabama Council, B.S.A.”  



  1. Registration ends Friday, October 29, 2010.  


Other important information:


Lunch will be served Saturday.  


Bring a camp chair.  (The picnic tables have been removed.)





If you are coming from Birmingham:
Take I-20 E (towards Atlanta) and take the BROMPTON Exit, #147. 
Turn RIGHT at the end of the exit ramp.

  • Drive past a Chevron station on your left.
  • Immediately after the Chevron station, TURN LEFT onto HIGHWAY 78.
  • Turn RIGHT onto WINNATASKA ROAD.This is a small and winding road.
  • Turn RIGHT onto WINNATASKA DRIVE, at the large wooden sign.
  • Go through the entrance gate and up the hill.
  • The gravel road is in disrepair.  Straddle the ruts and you will be okay.
