Registration begins at 7:30 AM

 

Please pre-register on-line through the Talakto website (www.talakto.org so we have plenty of handouts and refreshments.  You can also download the form at the above hyperlink and mail it. 

 

Cost: $2 to cover materials and refreshments. Anyone taking classes that last into the afternoon (such as the Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training) needs to bring a sack lunch or an additional $5 for lunch (sandwiches).

 

Cub Scout Leader Specific Training

 

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM * Fast Start for Cub Scout Leaders

Sessions for Den Leaders, Cubmasters, and Committee Members. Short introduction to your job as a Cub Scout Leader. 8:30 AM –10:00 AM Introduction to Cub Scouting If you have attended the Introduction to Cub Scouting (have

attended basic Cub Scout Leader training before) you only need to attend the split session for your current role (below).

 

10:00 AM – 12:00 Leader Specific split sessions.

This training is composed of two parts. The Introduction to Cub Scouting gives an overview of the Cub Scout program and how a pack operates. The second part is the leader specific breakout sessions for: Tiger Cub Leaders Cub Scout Den Leaders Webelos Den Leaders Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster Pack Committee Members

Den Chief Training 8:00 AM – 12:00

This is a training course for Boy Scouts who are or who want to be Den Chiefs. The course covers the role and responsibilities of a Den Chief, the structure of a den meeting, and den activities.

Quick introduction to your job as a Boy Scout Leader

BSA Troop Committee Challenge Training 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Troop Committee Training is for troop committee members, although parents and other troop leaders are invited to attend. Learn about the responsibilities of a troop committee, how the committee should be organized, and the positions to be filled on the committee.

Merit Badge Counselor Training 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Learn all about being a merit badge counselor, from getting registered to how the merit badge process works. No charge if you only take this course. This course is a one-time requirement for all Merit Badge Counselors.

BSA Scoutmaster / Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

This course provides essential information for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to become successful Boy Scout leaders. Learn about working with the boys, troop organization, the patrol method, the outdoor program, the advancement program, and program planning. To be fully trained, Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters must also attend the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training (OLS). The next OLS course will be held 13-14 MAY 2011 at Camp Westmoreland.

Venturing Leader Specific Training

 

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM * Fast Start for Venturing Leaders

Quick introduction to your job as a Venturing Crew Advisor

 

8:30 AM – 2:30 PM Venturing Leader Basic Training

 

This training introduces the new adult crew leader to Venturing by providing basic information needed to successfully operate a crew. This information includes the purpose and mission of Venturing; characteristics of Venture-aged youth; organization and leadership of the crew; and program planning and officer training. In Venturing Crews with outdoor activities, Venturing Advisors and Associate Advisors must also attend the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training (OLS). The next OLS course will be held 13-14 MAY 2011 at Camp Westmoreland.Commissioner Basic Training

 

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM * Fast Start for Unit Commissioners

Quick introduction to your job as Unit Commissioner

 

8:30 AM – 2:30 PM Commissioner Basic Training

Commissioner Basic Training is a Saturday course offered to all new Commissioners and those who wish to “brush up on their skills.” This course will include the role of the commissioner, unit visitations, membership management, the charter renewal process, commissioner awards and honors, and much more!

Chartered Organization Representative Training 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Learn about the responsibilities and duties of a Chartered Organization Representative.

* Youth Protection Training 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Covers BSA’s Youth Protection policies, how to respond to disclosures of abuse, and proper reporting procedures.

* This is Scouting 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

This is Scouting introduces the mission, vision, and values of the Scouting program and gives a general overview of the program. It covers Scouting in the community and how the Scouting program protects our youth. If you have taken this course once, you do not need to take it again. This Is Scouting replaced the New Leaders Essentials.
